This week at Macquarie Park Rotary President's Piece, 28/02/2010
Sunday nights come around so fast, and one needs to check their diaries for work appointments, meetings, social engagements and before you know it the week has flown right before your eyes. While I am sitting here typing, I am hoping my internet has enough download juice to see me to the end of the month, then it's wonderful, I get the full blown allocation again (gee we have become so reliant on computers!) Congratulations to Achieve Australia for their launch at Curzon Hall on Monday evening, our Club donated $1000.00 to their respite program. Margaret Lee our Community Services Director is part of the great team there at Achieve Australia, congratulations on a great night. Tuesday evening was the Charter of the New Club, Chatswood International, it was held at the Kam fook Restuarant in Westfield Chatswood, with over 200 people in attendance. It was a good night, the Club consists of members from the Asian Communities, where their background of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnemese, Korean, merged together to form the Chatswood International. Friday night I attended a Chinese New Year function which was organised by North Sydney Rotary, they asked me to put on a show for them, which went off beautifully and everyone was appreciative of my Chinese rendition of their traditional New years song. Kung Xi Kung Xi Nia! Yvonne Poon their International member loved it! Today our Club had a new members picnic at Lane Cove, what a great day, I have posted some pictures below, I only got told today that you cannot see the photo's that I have been downloading in my bulletin, I need to get this rectified! any how I'll try again. Sorry my downloading limit has reached its peak, I'll try next week! I would like to thank Peter Kirkwood from Waitara Rotary who gave us a great education on the digeridoo and played us a few tunes, it was a great morning. Also Kenneth our ROMAC boy is doing well with his surgery, I went to visit him again on Friday, and he was fast asleep! this is good at least he is healing. This is a good prognosis. We are currently trying to find a host family who can take in Kenneth and his father Ari for a few weeks when Kenneth leaves hospital for post checkups. If anyone can help please contact myself or Rob Wilkinson from North Ryde Rotary. We will see everyone on Tuesday, with Stuart Brand our member giving a talk on Community involvement . See you all at breakfast
